Accounting Clerk - We are currently accepting applications for Accounting Clerk. There is currently one vacancy in the Financial Services Department. | | Examples of Duties: | Accounting Clerks check and review invoices and prepare for payment; input purchase orders in general ledger software and prepare purchase order packet for approval; | input new vendors in general ledger software; enter data in spreadsheets for reporting and bank reconciliation purposes; enter journal entries in general ledger | software; ensure quarterly compliance reports for outside agencies are received; scan department documents; prepare and organize files; respond to citizen complaints | and inquiries; post a wide assortment of information to records; operate adding machine, automated accounting systems and other office equipment; perform other | related duties as required. | | Minimum Qualifications: | Knowledge of: | Office clerical procedures, methods and computer equipment; | Principles and procedures of financial recordkeeping and reporting; | Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). | Ability to: | Type at a speed necessary for successful job performance; | Operate computer terminal and standard office equipment, including adding machine and calculator; | Understand and follow oral and written instructions; | | Experience and Training | Experience: Two years of general clerical experience. Special qualifications such as billing or payroll experience may be desirable depending on position assignment. | | Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Coursework in finance, accounting, or administration is desirable. | | Working Conditions and Selection Process: Environmental Conditions: Office environment; exposure to computer screens and telephones. | Physical Conditions: Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; vision for | reading computer screens and printed reports; manual dexterity to operate computers and keyboards. | | Selection Process: All properly completed applications and supplemental questionnaires will be reviewed and the most appropriately qualified individuals will be | invited to continue in the selection process. Failure to provide all required application material will result in disqualification from the selection process. | The process may include any combination of a written exam, oral interview, and/or skills assessment to further evaluate job related experience and skills. | Candidates who successfully complete the selection process will be placed on an eligibility list and will remain eligible for employment consideration for | a minimum of six months. | | Note: Prospective employees will undergo, and must successfully pass, a background reference check (including fingerprinting) and a medical examination. | Drug screening may be required. | RESUMES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IN LIEU OF COMPLETED APPLICATION FORMS BUT MAY BE ATTACHED. | Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
